Abstract
Methodogical development involves a range of different design methods which aim at supporting designers in finding solutions to a given task. Some of them focus on the mapping of given requirements or product properties a customer is looking for onto realizable technical systems. This papcr presents and discusses some of these methods. Potentialities of these methods are pointed out and an approach to support engineers in the field of product development -the pinngate-project- is shown.
Keywords: early phases of design, systematic product development, theory of technical systems, experiential learning
